TEMPO.CO, JakartaPresident Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said today he was pleased with the completion of the Bogor-Ciawi-Sukabumi or Bocimi Toll Road Section II of the Cigombong-Cibadak Section. He inaugurated the 11.9-kilometer toll road worth Rp3.2 trillion.

“Yes, this is a gift of the 78th anniversary of the independence day for West Java Province, especially Sukabumi,” the President said during the inauguration ceremony in Sukabumi, Friday, August 4, 2023.

Thanks to the toll road, he said the travel time from Jakarta to Sukabumi areas, such as Pelabuhan Ratu, Cireteu, Ujung Genteng, and until Mount Gede, initially taking 5-6 hours shortens to about 2.5 hours.

“In fact, [the travel time] may take up to 6 hours, 9 hours, or 8 hours because of congestion in traditional markets and when workers leave the factory. I experienced it once, [the trip took] almost 6 hours,” Jokowi recalled.

He hoped that the mobility of people and goods could be faster with the opening of the toll road, which may boost investment in Sukabumi. Moreover, he planned to build another segment to connect the road to West Sukabumi.

“Based on a survey, West Java Province is ranked first for investment destination. The first reason is because of the roads. Most of the toll road projects are in West Java,” he added.

The Bocimi Toll Road has four sections spanning 54 kilometers. Section 1, the 15.35-km Ciawi-Cigombong toll road, has been operating since December 2018. Section 3 the 13.70-km Cibadak-West Sukabumi toll road and Section 4 the 13.05-km West Sukabumi-East Sukabumi toll road are in the progress of land acquisition.
